Cosham and Drayton are dominated by inter-war and post-war semis, which usually means solid plastered walls and, upstairs, lath-and-plaster or early plasterboard ceilings with a textured finish over the top.

It is a short run from my base in Portsmouth, so small jobs – one ceiling, a hallway, making good after a boiler move – are easy to fit in without a big minimum charge.
